The aim of the research is to evaluate the effects of alternative diets for animal nutrition in a context of recycling of the former food products (FFPs), according to the paradigm of circular economy. The terms Ex-food or Ex Foodstuffs refer to foods produced for human consumption but which are withdrawn from the market due to production problems. Livestock farming represents one of the human activities with the highest environmental impact, especially as regards the production of feed. For this reason, in recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the enhancement of alternative ingredients to be used for animal nutrition in order to increase the environmental sustainability of animal-based food products.
