We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join The Rivers Trust (RT) team as a Project Officer in the East of England. We are looking for someone with experience in community engagement, volunteer management and environmental education. You will be working predominantly on the Preventing Plastic Pollution Project (PPP). This exciting EU funded project is working to quantify and tackle plastic pollution in 7 river catchments, (including the Great Ouse in East Anglia) and scale up the projects impact more widely throughout the programme area in England and France.
High interest in the project has enabled us to build a strong network of community groups within the Great Ouse catchment, working on litter picks and data collection for a Citizen Science Project. We now need a Project Officer to support this work and other aspects of the project.
The Project Officer will need to be confident in their ability to communicate about the issues and activities in presentations and at public events, using a range of tools. They will also need the ability to present workshops to school and uniform groups.
RT is the umbrella body for the Rivers Trust movement, representing over 60 independent Rivers Trusts in England, Wales and the island of Ireland, and is the lead co-ordinator for community-based river catchment management as part of the Catchment Based Approach, which places community involvement at the heart of sustainable catchment management planning. Subsidiarity is a core value within RT and means that we support our members to deliver practical and sustainable solutions to environmental issues.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, enthusiastic and rapidly growing team and will contribute to building the technical and delivery capacity of the Rivers Trusts movement. You will work closely with a number of colleagues Technical, Operations and Commercial Directors in RT who have a good understanding of how the Rivers Trust movement has developed and the many opportunities for growth in delivery of nature-based solutions.
The Rivers Trust is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within our movement, as this is fundamental to achieving our core aims. Applications from diversity candidates are actively encouraged.
