The research project proposes the application of innovative methodologies for monitoring the main hydrological variables in the aquifer-soil-plant-atmosphere system to improve hydrological modeling at the field scale. The goal is to integrate different methodological tools such as the use of isotope tracers present in rain, aquifer, soil, plant water and geophysical measurements. The analysis of the monitored data will then serve the development of complex eco-hydrological models with the aim of obtaining a detailed understanding of the dominant hydrological dynamics and processes based on climate seasonality and land use change. The candidate will be required to carry out regular measurement campaigns in two experimental fields located in the Alento River Catchment in the province of Salerno. In addition, the research fellow will be required to participate in laboratory activities, data analysis and application of hydrological models (1D and 3D).
