The Hydrosystems Research Group at UMass Amherst is seeking Postdoctoral Research Scientists to conduct research in the development of computational tools to assist adaptation to climate change, primarily in the integrated water resources and urban water supply systems. The postdoctoral researcher(s) will join an active group of faculty, post-docs and graduate students engaged in research projects funded by a variety of agencies and foundations. Research applications will focus on the development of adaptation principles for evaluation of investments and new technology designed for urban water system resilience and basin scale water management. Locations include major urban areas in the Americas and Africa.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Ph.D. in a related field, including but not limited to civil and environmental engineering, systems analysis, data and information science, or hydroclimatology.
- Ability to write scientific papers and project reports.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Skills in R, Python or C programming and data management.
- Knowledge of time series analysis and Machine Learning methods.
- Ability to travel to project research meetings and give scientific presentations at national or international meetings.
The positions will initially be for one year and may be extended, dependent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
