To strengthen our department Biological Diversity, division Marine Programme in Hamburg, for the implementation of our international mangrove initiative, we are looking for a qualified person for the following full-time employment and fixed-term position from 15th of October until 31st of December 2022:

Partnership Manager (m/w/d) Mangrove Conservation

Your responsibilities:

  • Coordination and implementation of the work package “Building Partnerships” within the mangrove initiative which means to:
  • Initiate, manage and monitor partnerships in support of achieving the overarching goal of the mangrove initiative "Save Our Mangroves Now!" to halt and reverse the loss of mangroves for the benefit of people and nature - With WIO focus countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar)
    - With donor countries - With other actors/stakeholders in mangrove conservation
  • Elaborate a partnership strategy (incl. actors mapping/stakeholder analysis) for the current project period (possibly with external support)
  • Design partnership concepts and ensure necessary information flow/responding to related requests, e.g. by BMZ
  • Report to the team and consult implementing partners
  • Manage, develop and enhance existing cooperation and exchange formats
  • Closely coordinate and align with work streams of engaged regional offices with regard to partnership building in the Western Indian Ocean (a temporary - approx. 6 months - secondment to one of the involved offices in the WIO region is foreseen for 2021/2022)
  • Establish and maintain good contact to relevant donor focal points
  • Participate in regular meetings of other work packages of the initiative (international policy agenda setting, regional and national policy work in the WIO) to identify and share cooperation opportunities
  • Support the organization and execution of specific events, e.g. on partnership announcements

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, political sciences or communication, geography, cooperation management or a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the below described field of activities and relevant expertise (e.g. collaboration with and/or advisory services for government agen-cies/ministries, development and management of (political) partnerships between government institutions and with civil society initiatives, maintaining cooperation networks; ideally in the field of nature or marine conservation)
  • Working experience abroad and/or with international partners, ideally in the field of nature/marine conservation, globally and/or in the WIO region
  • Fluency in English, good knowledge of German; proficiency in French, Portuguese or Kiswahili is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills and convincing power
  • Pro-active and team-oriented style of working
