On behalf of the local water users, the Waboomsberg Conservancy is seeking a dynamic and self-driven individual as catchment coordinator on a two-year contract to drive water stewardship in the greater Koue Bokkeveld area. This comes as part of a collaborative supply chain initiative that WWF SA is facilitating with the aim of enhancing the collective management of water resources in two critical catchments within the Western Cape.
The project team are seeking a dynamic and self-driven individual with relevant work experience with a focus on agricultural science, irrigation technology and water resources management. The successful candidate will establish positive working relationships with producers and water users within the Koue Bokkeveld area, gather data and implement water resources management interventions within local project areas. This will include mapping of current land uses and ecological infrastructure, measuring and monitoring of water abstraction and use, prioritizing invasive alien plant clearing sites based on water security and biodiversity benefits, as well as establishing other potential project activities such as restoration of riparian areas, management of soil erosion, creation of firebreaks and promotion of sustainable farming practices based on local needs and available funding.
