Drinking Water Protection Compliance Coordinator
This vacancy will be used to fill two (2) vacancies in the Drinking Water Protection Section.
This position exists in the Community Public Water Supply (CPWS) Unit and Non Community Public Water Supply (NPWS) Unit (1 position per Unit) to: 1) administer and ensure compliance with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) rules and regulations as they pertain to public water systems, 2) coordinate, train, guide, and mentor compliance officers, 3) define, document, and improve compliance SOPs Section-wide, 4) collaborate with Unit Supervisor, other Unit Compliance Coordinator, Section, and Division staff, and US EPA to optimize program implementation; and 5) provide technical assistance, consultation, and training to staff, public water systems, operators, and others in regard to regulatory compliance for public water supplies.
Three years of professional experience in environmental health, hydrology, or related field
Professional experience must include compliance monitoring, compiling and analyzing data, and writing reports and correspondence
Advanced degree would be an asset
Detailed knowledge of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and Minnesota Rules applicable to public water supply systems
Ability to compile and analyze data from a variety of sources to make compliance and enforcement determinations
Background enforcing laws and rules including in contentious situations
Ability to establish effective working partnerships within MDH, with regulated facility owners and operators, and with the general public
Ability to develop techniques and procedures to accomplish goals and objectives
Must successfully pass a background check
Must possess a Valid Class D driver's license
