The River Dee Trust has an established track record in innovative conservation and enhancement projects and seeks to develop its existing 'IntroDee' education programme.

Post: Education Officer with the River Dee Trust (RDT), based on Deeside (Aberdeenshire). Fixed term full time contract for 12 months. Subject to confirmation of funding for further years and satisfactory performance reviews, the contract will be extended accordingly.

The Education Officer will increase awareness, enthusiasm for and understanding of our rivers in Deeside and Aberdeen City. Working with schools and community groups, we will enable young people to undertake outdoor learning in a safe and fun manner and introduce them to the river on their doorstep.

The post will attract a salary of £23-25,000.

Location: The post will be based at the River Office at Mill of Dinnet, close to Aboyne in the heart of Aberdeenshire. However, work will be undertaken throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Us: The RDT is a charitable River Trust whose remit includes the provision of scientific and education services to fisheries and the wider community in the River Dee area, leading to environmental protection and improvement of the associated rivers and riparian habitats. Further information at www.riverdee.org.uk.

You: You will be enthusiastic for outdoor learning and be a great communicator, able to use multi-media and capable of seeking funding opportunities. You will have a strong understanding of the natural environment and rivers, preferably backed up by study in a relevant discipline. However, you do not require specific formal qualifications as knowledge, experience, personality and approach to the role are more important. You will be motivated and organised to work with many schools and community groups to deliver indoor and outdoor learning visits. You will be able to work independently and within the team at the River Office. You will enjoy liaising with the general public and young people.

Apply: To apply please send your curriculum vitae along with a covering letter that states why you wish to apply for the post and the qualities that you would bring to the role. These should be either emailed to or posted to River Dee Trust, River Office, Mill of Dinnet, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, AB34 5LA.

Deadline: The deadline for applications to be received by the River Dee Trust is 9am on Wednesday 5th February 2020.

Interviews will be held at the River Office.

Please note we expect to hold interviews on Thursday 13th February.
