Due to the expansion of our environmental activities, we are seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic Senior Catchment Lead to take on this exciting and rewarding new role within our Environmental Team. The successful applicant will have strong organisational and communication skills, as well as knowledge of diffuse water pollution and the role of catchment management in protecting drinking water sources.
You will co-ordinate and oversee the delivery of catchment management activities in a number of drinking water catchments across Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Berkshire and Hampshire. In addition, you will ensure that the company's performance commitments are met and statutory obligations under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) are fulfilled.
The successful applicant will co-ordinate, inspire and support a team of Catchment Advisors to help deliver innovative catchment strategies, mitigation measures and pilot trials.
Tasks will include:
*Ensure all surface water schemes are delivered on time and meet objectives/milestones that have been agreed with the regulator
*Develop measures for our catchment management schemes to demonstrate the effectiveness of our catchment management programmes including performance outcomes and KPIs
*Develop and trial new innovative strategies for catchment management, for example, payment for ecosystem services, capital grants scheme, integrated pest management, area payments for land use change, etc.
*Support the reporting of scheme delivery and progress to the regulator
*Promote knowledge exchange between catchment partnerships, academic institutions, regulators and identify opportunities for collaborative working
* Look to influence government policy through our catchment management and wider WINEP work.
The successful applicant will:
*Support a team of Catchment Advisors to deliver statutory obligations under the WINEP
*Manage time effectively and be able to prioritise a busy and varied workload
*Communicate effectively with a wide range of environmental stakeholders
*Be a team player and willing to work as part of a wider catchment team
*Work directly with landowners, land managers, and agronomists to assess and mitigate risks within surface water catchments
*Work collaboratively with neighbouring water companies to deliver catchment management schemes and meet joint statutory obligations
*Write reports and tailor to appropriate audience, for example, technical, scientific, regulatory, stakeholders and general public
*Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Applications are open to candidates interested in full or part time hours at 37 or 30 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be based at one of the following locations; Arlington, Ashford or Farnborough.
