Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Principal Associate will be a thought leader within our Division of Health & Environment.  This person will focus on matters related to ecosystem restoration, including in the context of restoring natural resources with settlements from natural resource damage assessments (NRDAs), such as the BP oil spill settlement in the Gulf of Mexico
  • The candidate will have project management responsibility, including management of client relations, intellectual direction of projects, management of project budgets, overseeing, and being responsible for the quality of work by multidisciplinary project teams, and preparation of restoration plans, reports, briefings, and other project deliverables
  • The candidate will have extensive contact with clients, including project presentations and briefings. The candidate will initiate and lead business development activities, including identifying new clients and markets, writing proposals, and winning and directing performance of new work
  • The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an industry presence as a subject-matter expert by publishing in peer reviewed journals and/or presenting at annual conferences and meetings

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Position requires significant experience in ecosystem restoration, inter-agency collaboration, supervisory experience, and proven track record of project leadership
  • Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ideal candidate will have experience working in the Gulf of Mexico and on NRDA restoration planning projects as well as experience analyzing projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
  • Experience working with agencies such as:  NOAA, U.S. Department of Interior, State natural resource agencies, Army Corps of Engineers

Minimum Qualifications

  • MA/MS with 15+ years of experience OR PhD with 10 - 15 years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
