Climate Action Coordinator
YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Climate Action Coordinator supports The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) US climate policy and outreach work through organizational knowledge management and coordination of internal procedures, networks, teams, and projects.
The Climate Action Coordinator builds and facilitates internal networks; coordinates meetings, agendas, and presentations; supports donor and financial management; and conducts other activities in support of TNC’s Climate Action in the US Strategy. They will work to coordinate across the strategy including liaising with staff in all 50 states as well as regional and national staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Team coordination such as scheduling meetings, developing agendas, meeting minutes and other administrative functions.
- Organize special events such as team retreats or workshops, including coordination with external vendors.
- Maintain internal databases for team documents.
- Support for donor stewardship and results management, including coordinating processes and compiling reporting information
- Communicate on behalf of team with staff in various programs across the Conservancy.
- May include support for financial management and financial responsibilities such as processing check requests, purchasing, processing invoices, and contracting with vendors.
- Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience, referring difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor;
- Coordinate projects with several variables, working within a defined timeline and budget;
- Ensure compliance with Conservancy policies and procedures, and external requirements;
- Provide input through project teams for the improvement of existing programs;
- Travel and work flexible hours as needed;
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain; and
- Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of internal and external audiences
- Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines;
- Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.
- Experience coordinating team projects and administrative processes; and
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading;
- Experience coordinating complex projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results.
- Familiarity with climate policy topics
- Ability to manage time independently and prioritize diverse responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Experience building networks, facilitating informational sessions, increasing internal knowledge and capacity, and identifying key stakeholders.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in project management
- Self-starting, independent worker who can thrive in a decentralized organization with minimal oversight.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
