Project description
This project aims to enhance our understanding on if, how, and why collaboration in wildfire crisis management might, or might not, lead to improved outcomes. To that end, the project team will analyze different datasets drawn from recent collaborative wildfire responder networks using new interdisciplinary network modeling approaches. The project will also need to develop other novel methods, and/or combine existing statistical approaches in novel ways.

The research is funded by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and will be conducted as part of ongoing collaborative research involving scholars from Stockholm University, Uppsala University, Brock University and University of Alberta.

Main responsibilities
The research assistant is expected to contribute to the project mainly through statistical multilevel network model development, analysis of existing datasets using the software packages R and MPNet, and potentially by complementing existing dataset through new (limited) data gathering and/or integrating other pre-existing datasets. Moreover, the research assistant will interact closely and regularly with the core project team members, participate in regular workshops and meetings, and contribute in writing scientific articles.

Qualification requirements
Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish university degree or an equivalent degree from another country in a relevant discipline (e.g. interdisciplinary sustainability science, computational social science, network science, statistics).

Assessment criteria
The applicant should have documented competence and extensive experiences in statistical analyses of network data (social and/or ecological), and experience in stochastic network modeling based on exponential random graph models (ERGM). Experience in interdisciplinary research is highly valued. Excellent abilities in working with the statistical software package R are highly valued. The project requires a strong affinity for collaborative teamwork.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of one year (at a 75% part-time arrangement), or 9 months at full time, and does not involve any direct extension. Start date as per agreement, as soon as possible.
