The Financial Institutions Expert – Global within the Financial Institutions team is primarily responsible for engaging cross-geographically with country and regional teams and providing quality technical assistance with regard to domestic financial institutions where and as needed. This Financial Institutions Expert will provide technical direction and knowledge to internal stakeholders; as well as providing technical assistance and guidance with external stakeholders within the domestic financial institutions space. This Financial Institutions Expert will gather, synthesize, and provide regional insights into training solutions, collateral needs, and the overall strategic approach to sharing knowledge in support of the field operations team members and the success of their engagement with financial institutions. This Financial Institutions Expert will also participate in thought leadership within the domestic financial institutions space and will actively contribute to establishing country and regional specific financial institution engagement and impact generation strategies.

The Financial Institutions Expert – Global role may be based in Kansas City, MO or San Francisco, CA. Locations outside these two locations will be considered if this role is filled by a current employee.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Technical Expertise (80%)
  • Provide technical expertise for country teams related to financial institutions. 
  • Provide financial institutions implementation support including new market development 
  • Collaborate with the county and regional team to understand needed areas of technical support.
  • Identify opportunities to provide technical assistance and guidance to enhance the country and regional team’s success with financial institutions.
  • Share knowledge, evidence and resources related to financial institutions with regional and country teams 
  • Develop resource development, including technical content, case studies and business cases as appropriate to the region and the stakeholders.
  • Assist country teams in gathering best practices and lessons learned from financial institution implementations 
  • Support country and regional teams in integrating technical capabilities to thoroughly leverage financial institutions partnerships. 
  • Manage, implement, administer and coordinate high-quality technical assistance projects that have a strong positive impact on partners
  • Ensure quality control and results/impact monitoring of technical assistance projects
  • Contribute to the development and execution of , annual workplans, performance monitoring systems, tools, analyses, and writing of program and research reports.
  • Participate and support the Financial Institutions team and Global Impact department as a thought leader 
Financial Institutions Relationship Building and Management (20%)
  • Support global and regional financial institution relationship building by providing high quality advise, relevant and compelling collateral, and sharing best practices.
  • Support other departments in relationship building with capital providers.
  • Actively build credibility among financial institutions and build brand among these financial institutions.
  • Develop and grow partnerships with strategic external stakeholders to financial institutions practice area resources.
  • Manage, implement, administer and coordinate high-quality technical assistance projects that have a strong positive impact on partners
  • Identify and recommend innovative ways to attract, inform and build new relationships with regional financial institutions.
Management Responsibility
  • Individual contributor with no subordinates.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in industry relevant field required. 
  • 10+ years' experience within the financial sector. 
  • Experience advising financial institutions in developing countries across a range of institution types and geographies.  
  • Financial product development experience 
  • Experience creating tools, materials and resources for financial institution audiences 
  • Exposure to training targeted at financial institution audiences. 
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate and direct work including workflow management 
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office 365. 
  • MBA/MPA preferred 
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language is required. Fluency with Spanish and/or one or more native languages within South/SE Asia and Africa a plus.
  • Strong communication /and interpersonal skills   

Travel Requirement

  • Up to 50% of domestic and global travel.
