You’ll also be perfectly placed to join one of our graduate programmes in future.

You can now apply to join our internship programme, which commences in June 2019, as a Science Intern. During your internship you will support key business areas on innovative projects to deliver an excellent service to our customers. The location of this role will at Juniper House, Edinburgh.

Working on a Digital Transformation Project, you will work with multi-functional teams across Scotland including our specialist laboratories, regulatory teams and operations to support and develop the delivery of resilient and sustainable water and wastewater services.

Science skills in the water sector are growing in significance as the world confronts the interlinked threats of climate change, resource sustainability, pollution and population growth. Scottish Water’s business is inextricably linked to these challenges and requires strong scientific developments, capabilities and skills going forward to deliver advances in treatment approaches to ensure that Scottish Water successfully addresses future water and wastewater compliance issues, supports sustainable economic growth and delivers a resilient and good value service for our customers.

You will be able to work on a wide range of projects, from leading laboratory analysis right through to cutting edge treatment operations and processes. You will experience a variety of on-site environments often in beautiful surroundings and you will receive extensive technical as well as management systems training .

You will be studying towards a degree discipline in either Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Applied Sciences  or Natural Sciences. You will also have excellent data management skills. To get the most from the programme you’ll be ready to engage fully in the development opportunities that are available to you.

To be eligible to apply for this internship programme you will be a penultimate year student (for example in your third year of a four year course, or in your fourth year but going on to study a Masters Degree. You need to be available for the 12 week duration of the programme and on course to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
