Canada nationals: Adaptation Planning Specialist
Environment and Natural Resources actively collaborates to protect, manage and restore ecosystem health, promote environmental stewardship and support the wise use of natural resources for the benefit of ecosystems, which include the people of the Northwest Territories.
This position reports to the Manager, Climate Change Programs. The incumbent is the GNWT's expert on climate change impacts and community-focused adaptation in the Northwest Territories.
The Adaptation Planning Specialist is responsible for increasing climate resiliency and adaptation capacity for communities. This is achieved by developing, implementing and managing climate change adaptation projects; collaborating with communities, agencies who work on behalf of communities, and academia operating in and on behalf of communities; supporting research and monitoring and the development of adaptation tools; and providing climate change advice and assistance to governments, communities, businesses and residents. This position will maintain qualifications in professional, technical and administrative areas by attending and completing all seminars, training and other professional development opportunities as assignment.
These skills are typically acquired through a Bachelor Degree in a field such as Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies or Geography and at least three years relevant experience. Experience with a multi-disciplinary approach would be an asset.
